OUR PROGRAM
Our 1st Session runs from September
to December and the 2nd Session from January to May.
You
can choose the program that best fits your schedule, a
Mommy and me class, a preschool program, a kinder program, 3's and 4's yrs old class
and 4's and 5's yrs old class.
OUR CURRICULUM
Each class is conducted
exclusively in Spanish in a structured, stimulating, nurturing and
playful environment.
Our methodology is based on the
importance of verbal-visual-tactile association. Therefore, an
interactive approach is achieved through traditional Spanish
stories, activities and songs from different Hispanic countries
around the world and the use of creative manipulative tools,
including arts and crafts, puppets, toys and instruments.
Our preschool program focuses on
the development of listening and speaking skills and on cultural
awareness. Grammar is not the focus, but is learned indirectly
rather than through direct instruction. The program follows the
natural sequence of language learning: understanding > speaking >
reading > writing. The program provides a progressive and
coordinated approach to the development of communication skills. As
students progress in oral language comprehension, reading and
writing skills are introduced.
Classes are kept small, 5 children
maximum for preschool and 1 hr classes and 4 for mommy and me
classes, in order to facilitate the full participation of every
child.
Each week/class has a new theme
and its objective will be introduced followed by an art, science,
and/or math project to reinforce the concept.
We
follow a developmental philosophy that matches a child's growth
through a selection of activities. Curriculum is tailored to meet
intellectual development while providing a balance of structure and
free play so that each child is challenged and not overwhelmed. On
any given day, activities may include several of the following:
storytelling, learning and singing Spanish songs, focusing on
Spanish language skills, drawing, arts and crafts, clay work,
building with blocks and putting together a puzzle, counting and
number games, dancing, mime and movement, enjoying healthy snacks
and cleaning up, free play, organized play, dolls, visual aids,
picture books, cooking and eating.
